On Monday 11th June 2007, The 8th Commonwealth Women's Affairs ministers meeting (8wamm) started with a bang at Speke resort & Conference Munyonyo. It was launched by the His excellence President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. He talked about Financing Gender Equality For Development And Democracy The Eighth Commonwealth Women A Financing Gender Equality For Development And Democracy.
He clearly stated that "The unequal gender relations that are typical of our societies must be reversed, for the Commonwealth societies to achieve political, economic and human development. The Commonwealth leadership, therefore, must be astute in addressing the root causes of the problems those members of our family especially the developing countries are faced with, in pursuit of the global agenda of development, justice, peace and elimination of poverty. This theme is in consonance with the current debate on financing development".
